Mensagem from teh Board - June 2026

Message from the Board

Dear Members,

As we reach the end of the first half of 2026, we are pleased to take a moment to reflect on the activities and achievements of the MG Club of Portugal.

It was an exciting and eventful six months, filled with a diverse program of activities and memorable moments of fellowship, once again demonstrating the vitality and spirit of friendship that define our Club.

During this period, we organized and participated in several initiatives, including:

  • The English Tour, organized in partnership with the ACP (Automóvel Club de Portugal);
  • Motor Clássico Show, where we showcased the MG Canelas and held a gathering for Club members;
  • Annual General Meeting, during which the Club's accounts were approved and our new slogan, "MGCP – Emotion Without Limits!", was officially adopted. It also provided an excellent opportunity for members to meet and socialize. We would like to thank the new members of the General Assembly Board for the exemplary way in which they conducted the meeting;
  • 188th MG Gathering, in Palmela, where we discovered some promising new talents during the track speed challenges;
  • 189th MG Gathering, an unforgettable weekend exploring Castelo de Vide, Portalegre and Marvão, combining cultural visits, gastronomy and driving activities;
  • 190th MG Gathering, held at Tapada da Ajuda in Lisbon, which featured several Veteran MGs that became the stars of the event and a living testimony to the rich heritage of our brand.

The first half of the year is also a particularly busy period from an administrative perspective. We successfully completed the renewal of both Classic and Non-Classic vehicle insurance policies, while maintaining the same premiums as in previous years despite the increasing pressures within the insurance market.

This semester also proved especially demanding in the area of Historic Vehicle recertification, as four years have now passed since the legislation requiring the initial certification of many vehicles came into force. Thanks to the dedication of our General Secretary and the excellent cooperation with the Caramulo Museum, we were able to successfully manage this significant workload.

Behind the scenes, we continue to invest in the modernization of the MG Club of Portugal. Development of our website and member management and communication tools is progressing steadily, with the aim of providing an increasing range of digital services to our members while simplifying our administrative processes.

The second half of the year promises to be just as exciting. Preparations are already underway for a weekend event in Batalha and Aljubarrota, as well as for our traditional Christmas Lunch, two occasions where we hope once again to welcome many members and their families. At the same time, we will begin preparing our 2027 Activity Plan, which we intend to make participative by actively encouraging members to contribute ideas and proposals.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome to the 13 new members who joined the MG Club of Portugal during the first half of the year. We hope they will find in our Club a community of friendship, shared passion and many unforgettable experiences behind the wheel of their MGs.

Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all our members, families, volunteers and partners whose enthusiasm, commitment and support have contributed to the success of our activities. Your participation is fundamental to ensuring that the MG Club of Portugal continues to grow and strengthen its position as one of Portugal's leading classic car clubs.

We wish you all a wonderful summer holiday, filled with enjoyable journeys, many miles behind the wheel of your MG, and unforgettable moments with your families and friends.

Octagonal Greetings,

Tiago LousadaChairman of the Board
