Caramulo Museum and RTP2 pay tribute to João Lacerda, one of the museum’s founders with a documentary dedicated to his life and legacy, which can be watch on RTP2 on July 22nd at 11:00 PM.
A pulmonologist by profession and a motorsport enthusiast, João de Lacerda stood out as a driver in races such as the Mille Miglia and the Monte Carlo Rally, often as the sole Portuguese participant. Later, he channeled his passion into the restoration and preservation of classic cars, beginning the collection that would eventually become part of the museum.
For João de Lacerda, the true essence of a car was in its movement — all vehicles in the collection are kept ready to drive. He believed that the thrill of driving does not depend on speed, but on the authenticity of the experience. His legacy lives on every time a classic from the museum takes to the road.
