DRY and WET… 2nd edition!
José Gil suggested it, Daniel Rabiais picked up on it, made the contacts and thus made it much easier for us to organise another trip to Caldas da Rainha during Oeste Lusitano weekend, to be held in the Parque D. Carlos I.
Of the 19 vehicles expected, one refused to go for a ride and another wasn't taken for a ride. The participating Members gathered in the Rainha D. Leonor Senior University Square to park in an authorised and guarded area. From there, either by transfer or by their own means, the Members went to Largo da Rainha D. Leonor, where Mrs. Prof Maria das Mercês Matos was waiting to guide them on their visits to the Thermal Hospital, founded in 1486, to the Church of N. Sra. do Pópulo, which began as the hospital's private chapel and ended up being elevated to the Main Church and, finally, to the Hospital and Caldas Museum.
The return to the cars was already made in the rain, as well as the journey to the Inatel Foz do Arelho Foundation facilities where lunch was served, during which another gift album from Casal Vale Rêgo was circulated remembering the 2023 Christmas Lunch and for which we are very grateful.
Afterwards, in the bar, Mrs. Prof spoke about the Óbidos Lagoon and the Penedo Furado, formed a few thousands of years ago when the Lagoon was open to the sea. There we stopped to take a group photo and lined up for the Regularity Rally which, having started haphazardly, ended at the Cais Palafitico da Barrosa. Taking advantage of the break in the rain, the trophies were awarded to the top three finishers.
The meeting ended at the Foz do Arelho Viewpoint, where the sky cleared and we had the chance to see the Berlenga Island and the Estelas.
