7th Portugal-China Gala - Lisboa – Electricity Museum

National
November 10, 2022

"A memorable night for MGcar and MG Motor Europe" was how Pedro Gonçalves, General Manager of MGcar Lisboa, summed up all the emotion of a night when he received the prestigious "Foreign Investment in Portugal" award with which CCILC - Luso-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry distinguished the MGcar in front of an audience of 210 illustrious guests.

The CCILC, founded in 1978, even before the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Portugal and the People's Republic of China, was the first association of companies to emerge in Europe and to promote business with China in an efficient, informed and safe manner.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the event returned under the theme "A Multilateral Future", which Vera Pinto Pereira, President of CCILC, framed by placing the focus on cooperation and peaceful coexistence as a form of common development. Next, she held a conversation with the guest of honour, António Costa Silva, Ministro da Economia e do Mar, on Portugal's potential as a destination for Chinese investment, the unique historical relationship between the two countries, the identification of synergies and the positioning of Portugal in its relationship with the world and China, with whom it has had a strategic partnership for 17 years.

Likewise, Zhao Bentang, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Portugal, also made a speech that demonstrated, through official statistics, the depth of Luso-Chinese economic and trade cooperation.
The awarding of the Business Merit Awards honoured the entities that most distinguished themselves in strengthening economic and trade relations, between the period 2020-2022, namely:

  • Chinese Investment in Portugal: CCCC/Mota-Engil
  • Portuguese Investment in China: TMG Automotive
  • Foreign Trade (Portugal-China): MG Motor and Alibaba Cloud [ex aequo]
  • Lusophony: IP Engenharia
  • Health and Wellness: Luz Saúde
  • Greater Bay Area: Haitong Bank
  • Entity of the Year: Luso-Chinese Merchants and Industrialists Association

At the end of this 7th edition, a tribute was paid to Mr. General Vasco Rocha Vieira for his contribution towards bringing the two countries closer together and for the friendship and support given to CCILC.

The M.G. Clube de Portugal was invited to attend this Gala and was represented by Isabel Tinoco, President of the Board, and Tiago Silva, MGCP Delegate for Europe.

The new MG Marvel R Electric and MG4 Electric were illuminating the outside space, near the main staircase of Central Tejo.

To MGcar and MG Motor Europe we wish all the best.

Octagonal Greetings.
