MG has announced the construction of its first manufacturing facility in mainland Europe, to be located in Galicia, Spain, representing an investment of approximately €200 million. The plant is expected to begin operations in 2028, with an annual production capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles, creating more than 2,000 jobs across Europe.
This investment marks a significant milestone in MG’s “In Europe, For Europe” strategy, strengthening the brand’s industrial presence on the continent. The new facility will integrate research and development, manufacturing, component supply, and intelligent logistics operations, enabling increased local production and a more efficient and resilient European supply chain.
MG also plans to deepen collaboration with European technology companies, research institutions, and suppliers to accelerate innovation in areas such as next-generation batteries, intelligent mobility systems, and sustainable energy solutions. This initiative aligns with the European Union’s objective of achieving zero-emission mobility by 2035.
The announcement comes at a time of strong growth for the brand in Europe, where MG has already delivered more than one million vehicles since its return to the UK market in 2011. The company continues to expand its range of electric and hybrid vehicles, including the new MG4 EV Urban, MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid, MGS5 EV, and MGS6 EV, as well as the electric sports car MG Cyberster, reinforcing its commitment to more sustainable and technologically advanced mobility.
