After 16 months of inactivity we still had to make a delay of almost 3 more months because of the arising of the Variant Delta Covid-19. But, with the vaccination certificates and the maintenance of the use of masks, hand hygiene and social distancing, we felt that the conditions were in place to move forward with this first meeting in the reserved and cautious “Clean & Safe” environment of the Pharmacy and Health Museum, in Lisboa.
After the 14 MG vehicles gathered near the Alfândega Marítima facilities, on Avenida Brasília, their owners led them in a caravan through the São Bento District towards the Museum which is close to the Miradouro de Santa Catarina, overlooking the Tagus river.
After parking the vehicles, Dr. João Neto, Director of the Museum, led us through 5000 years of history of health and pharmacy. A journey that, although it started in prehistory, it is still being built today on the testimonies that now reach us from the “future”, such as portable pharmacies and first aid kits used by NASA astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
The lunch served at the Pharmacia Restaurant, with a Chef Felicidade's menu, was of great satisfaction, with particular emphasis on the crunchy Peixinhos da Horta.
The members David Gama, João Tordo and Pedro Forte appeared for the first time and we were delighted to see our members Inês Castelo Branco and Rita Gomes da Silva driving their MGB GT and MGB, respectively.
It was a very pleasant meeting and we hope that others will appear soon.
